Birthday Teaser

I have to apologize again for my huge lack of posts lately. We are now 2 weeks away from my son's 1st birthday bash and I am still trying to wrap things up and completely clean the house at the same time. Through our adventures in cleaning and re-organizing we have come to terms with the fact that I definitely need a dedicated work room. I still love my awesome sewing station in the living room . . . I love that I can be working but still spending time with the family, but we need a spot for me to have my fabric stash better laid out with an ironing station and cutting table. And who knows, maybe one of these thrifting trips will bring a dress form my way! But that will be a project for after the party is over and I have spent a week relaxing! Haha.

In the meantime, I have completely lost all the free time I was using on re-purposing . . . which is okay . . . the weather is improving so I am sure I will be able to spend plenty of time outside painting and re-purposing this fall (I plan on tackling our mismatched hand me down bedroom set).

Since I don't have any new project tutorials to show you I will give you a taste of our Sesame Street birthday bash. I will have plenty of tutorials to share after the party.

Adhesive vinyl is now my new best friend! So easy . . . just cut out the shapes and stick to anything.

As I mentioned, this party is being done the thrifty way. The bubble bottles were bought at the dollar store, 3 bottles to a pack! I found all of the adhesive vinyl I needed on ebay!

The buckets were found at Michaels on clearance for 50 cents a piece! Once again, I just cut out the vinyl shapes. I then used alphabet stickers to personalize the buckets for each kid. These will hold all the goodies that the kids will take home with them after the party.

I also did 4 red buckets as Elmo but haven't taken pictures yet. I will be using those to play "Elmo buckets", my version of Bozo buckets.

I will be sharing some more photos of everything set up at the party! For now, I have some work to do and I will be finishing a pinata tonight. But I promise a fall season full of great tutorials and home makeover projects!

Hope everyone is busy out enjoying these last few weeks of Summer!

A Lazy Summer Week

I fear I have no new projects to share this week. It has been a rough few weeks and I am quickly losing my motivation. I have been so caught up in prepping birthday items that I am quickly burning myself out. The house is now even messier and I am starting to feel a little down and exhausted. Tonight I am just trying to get back to me and inspire myself to re-organize the house and then get back on the crafting train!

But I wanted to share the few things I have been up to . . .

First . . . recognize this?

It's amazing what a few coats of spray paint and some dainty lace covered glass can do!

I also finally finished a project which I started months ago for hanging in my bathroom.

What do you think? Should I make a few similar signs to sell in my shop? I am curious if I should tackle a few of these.

Finally, tonight I am trying to start making some more yummy food for my family. I have been picking tons of cucumbers from my garden so I decided to can some more pickles (this is our 5th batch of pickles now . . . though I keep sharing batches)!

And strawberries have been on sale everywhere lately and my husband LOVES strawberries. So I have decided to attempt a recipe I found on Pinterest for strawberry jam. Here it is so far:

Doesn't look like jam yet but I will let you know how it turns out.

Again, I apologize for the lack of tutorials lately. I promise some great birthday tutorials are just around the corner.
